THE TOPIC 2020 - Sustainable Disruption
The focus is on people, the environment and the economy. A complex world requires multidimensional business model developments. At the end of September 2015, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the "2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development" at the World Summit. This contains 17 specific goals, the so-called "SDGs" (engl. Sustainable Development Goals). These political objectives of the United Nations are intended to create a global Sustainable development on an economic, social and ecological level secure.
For companies, sustainability means that they are responsible for their activities and services for their employees, the environment and their own business operations. Taking responsibility.
Sustainability in practice has multiple positive effects on companies:
- Building trust with customers, employees and the public
- Strengthening credibility in society
- Continuous improvement of social and environmental performance
- Strengthening competitiveness as part of the value proposition
THE IDEA the Digital Challenge
Traditional business models are put to the test in terms of their durability in the digitalized world. Teams of students, consisting of four to six digital natives, give their all to make a company fail with their ideas. The benefits are knowledge of the potential challenges of digitalization and new business opportunities for the company as well as access to managers and intensive coaching from the Mittelstand 4.0-Kompetenzzentrum Kiel for the students.
THE PRICE
A total of €14,000 in prize money was announced by The Bay Areas e.V. in 2019!
The Digital Challenge 2020 will create sustainable approaches to digitalization!
I already experienced the Digital Challenge as a student in 2018 and supported it as a university employee in 2019. I loved the creative atmosphere of the event and the collaboration with the companies! Together, we want to further develop this unique format and create great innovative ideas again in 2020 and bring students into contact with companies in Schleswig-Holstein.
