Are you ready for Digital Week Kiel 2023?

Digital Week Kiel and Silicon Valley are not only closely linked in terms of content: The city partnership between Kiel and San Francisco was signed and celebrated in 2017 during the first DiWo. Since then, the cooperation between the two Bay Areas has become visible in various formats during Kiel's Digital Festival.

This year, Digital Week coincides with the start of the High-flyer start-up competition 2023 which offers start-ups from SH a spectacular study visit to THE start-up hotspot San Francisco. So what could be more natural than to make start-ups and entrepreneurship the focus of this year's program?

During the day, together with cooperation partners such as the state capital of Kiel, StartUp SH e.V., Marketing-Club Schleswig-Holstein and the Northern Germany Innovation Office (NGIO), we therefore organized an event entitled "Silicon Valley x Startups: Accelerate your Success" has put together an exciting program for founders and those interested in founding a company to help you develop your start-up and expand your network in Kiel and the region.

San Francisco and Silicon Valley are considered one of THE global start-up hotspots. Whether Facebook, Uber, Airbnb or Zoom - all of these success stories started here and have revolutionized the way we communicate, work, travel and access information over the last decade. Today, global challenges such as climate change and future technologies such as generative artificial intelligence are setting new trends in Silicon Valley.

Which ideas are currently popular with founders in Silicon Valley? How is Silicon Valley changing structurally? And what can we learn from the Silicon Valley ecosystem?

Florian DahlhausenStanford MBA student and venture capital investor, will give us an insight into Silicon Valley on Wednesday evening and share current trends in entrepreneurship in the innovation region and Kiel's twin city San Francisco. Florian is currently completing an MBA at the Stanford Graduate School of Business and is chairman of the Stanford German Students Association. At the same time, he works as an Investment Fellow at Pear VC, a leading venture capital investor that invests in early-stage startups. Before his time at Stanford, Florian worked at McKinsey & Company, where he helped build McKinsey's German startup network. He is passionate about topics such as digital health and climate tech, which is also reflected in his podcast "Down to Zero", in which he talks to founders and investors in Silicon Valley about technologies and trends in the field of climate tech.

What do these trends mean for us? What developments are we seeing in Germany? Founders and experts will then discuss this, including

  • Dr. Anke Rasmus, Chairwoman StartUp SH e.V.,
  • Prof. Dr. Carsten Schultz, Kiel University, Kiel Institute for Responsible Innovation (KIRI), Chair of Technology Management,
  • Alexander Ohrt, Co-Founder Waterkant Festival,
  • Philipp Özren, StickTo - high-flyer winner 2022,
  • Axel Schulz, Managing Partner EUROCON Consultants & Chairman of The Bay Areas e.V.

Incidentally, all events take place in the InnoPier at Kleiner Kiel (Martensdamm 6, 24103 Kiel, former HSH Nordbank building). Not quite downtown San Francisco, but one of Kiel's most beautiful views awaits you on the 9th floor ;).

Please note: For organizational reasons, you must register separately for each program item.

We look forward to seeing you!
