DiWo Kiel 2022: City of the future - City of the Future

What will your city of the future look like? What contribution will digital innovations make? Which trends of TOMORROW can already be anticipated TODAY?

On 15.09.2022, a joint event was held by Digital Week Kiel and The Bay Areas at the Science Center. On this evening, the question of what defines the city of tomorrow was discussed together.

Jonas Dageförde, Chief Digital Officer of the state capital Kiel, moderated the evening charmingly and expertly and led an exciting panel discussion on digital innovations for a liveable city of the future with his guests, the well-known Tagesschau journalist Richard Gutjahr, Dr. Julia Kroh from the CAU think tank and the experienced management consultant and The Bay Areas initiator Thomas Ewoldt.

Furthermore, Richard Gutjahr shared his visions of the city of the future with the audience in an impressive keynote speech and Dr. Julia Kroh gave an interesting keynote speech on her current research work from the CAU's thinking space on the topic of participation.

Connected live from Silicon Valley, Tim Ole Jöhnk, Director of the Northern Germany Innovation Office, gave inspiring input on the topic of the City of the Future from THE global innovation hotspot, our partner city San Francisco.

The audience was interactively involved in the topics via Mentimeter surveys and asked about their own vision of the city of the future in 5 years' time. The entire evening was impressively and concisely visualized using graphic recording by Nicolas Uphaus.

At the subsequent get-together in the WiZe Dome, guests were able to test interactive tools such as AR glasses from raumX and iPads from the Smart KielRegion. The visualizations "Visual Utopia" by Jan Kamensky were shown on a screen.
