As all trips to and from our twin city San Francisco are currently being postponed due to the pandemic and only a small group of people are able to travel to the other region even after the pandemic, there is very little contact between the people of Kiel and the people in our twin city. The idea of the Sister City Dialogue was developed together with the state capital of Kiel and the Sister City Committee in San Francisco and is intended to maintain and facilitate relations and exchange in the current situation.

The basic idea is to hold a virtual, moderated online and hybrid expert dialog on common topics that directly affect both city regions. The aim is to actively involve as broad a public as possible from both cities and regions. The experts are specialists in the selected topic who can offer in-depth insights into the chosen topic and who are particularly interested in the dialogical debate in relation to both partner regions.

At the first digital Sister City Dialogue on 21.09.2021 was about opportunities and trends in tourism.
