More on the topic
Following a landslide election victory, the new US President Donald J. Trump not only has the special powers of a US President, he can also rely on the - narrow - majorities of a Republican party shaped by him in both the US Senate and the House of Representatives and, in the final instance, the Supreme Court, which he holds a decisive position in. President Trump has already made it abundantly clear in his first 30 days in office that he will use this to drastically change policy in pretty much every respect and at all levels.
The effects of the seismic shift in the USA are by no means limited to America, of course, but lead to violent tremors in many parts of the world after only a short time in office and affect international politics and the economy in equal measure.
- What does the change of direction in Germany's most important export market mean for the German economy? Will it also create opportunities?
- As the USA's fourth-largest trading partner, is Germany in danger of becoming the target of the next tariffs?
- What are the consequences of increasing European economic regulation in the face of targeted de-regulation in the USA?
