The first Lighthouse Swim Open Water Kiel was a complete success! Over 100 swimmers took part and swam either 4 km or 14 km across the Kiel Fjord. An absolutely exceptional situation for everyone involved.
With the support of our sponsors and supporters, members, implementation partners and volunteers, we worked together to put on a successful event that was received with great enthusiasm by the athletes, spectators and everyone involved. We are overwhelmed by the positive feedback and the high demand for a follow-up event next year.
We also achieved our goal as an association of connecting people from Kiel and San Francisco with this event. Despite the last-minute planning phase, two of our swimmer friends from San Francisco made the long journey across the ocean and took part in the Lighthouse Swim. Furthermore, we had the honor to welcome Ana Blanco, Director of the International Ocean Film Festival San Francisco, at our event. In the evening, she presented the open water film "Kim Swims" on the stage of the Cinemare Ocean Pop Up. Ana Blanco was so impressed by the event that she would like to integrate the Lighthouse Swim into her festival in San Francisco next year from April 7-10, 2022. We are there😊
A complete success for our association and a sign of a living town twinning!
Sina from the Fördefräulein Kiel accompanied our event with the camera and recorded a great Image film shot. Pictures of the event can be viewed at Link view.
