We accepted the invitation of the Amerika-Gesellschaft Schleswig-Holstein, which is organizing this year's meeting of the German America Houses. We were able to share our contribution to transatlantic exchange in the form of a lively town twinning in discussions with the leaders of the various institutions and with Alan Meltzer, the highest-ranking US diplomat in Germany.
The America Houses emerged after the Second World War as beacons of literature, dialog and democracy. Thanks to the Marshall Plan, Germany rebuilt brick by brick and revitalized culture and relations across the Atlantic. Today, the America Centers continue this legacy.
