Sometimes everything just fits together! We are delighted that Petra Specht and Christian Kisielowski from the Bay Area are currently visiting Kiel and have the opportunity to get to know the TBA community at three events.
To kick things off, however, there was first a tour of the city including a trip up the town hall tower together with City President Bettina Aust. At the Überflieger Business Lounge on Thursday, this year's applicant start-ups presented themselves and there was a lot of networking with a focus on transfer and founding. On Friday, we got into the mood for the Lighthouse Swim on Saturday at the opening of the Lighthouse Swim with films from the CINEMARE Ocean Film Festival, which challenged the 250 or so swimmers and paddlers with rather changeable weather conditions.
Petra and Christian are physicists, have lived in the USA for more than 30 years and volunteer in the Bay Area to keep the German language and culture as well as the history of German immigrants alive. Petra is President of the German Exelsior Center at The Altenheim Oakland Foundation, which organizes Germany Day in San Francisco, among other things. This year, we will be attending German Day together with Kiel Marketing for the city partnership between Kiel and San Francisco and have also used our personal meeting to make a few joint plans.
We owe the nice coincidence of the visit to Prof. Dr. Herman Kohlstedt from the Faculty of Engineering at the CAU, who himself worked in Berkeley for a year. He invited Christian to give a guest lecture at the TF.
