Day of German Unity

Experience The Bay Areas Partnership!

A great tent! I had a chat with the friendly gentleman Dirk Lonnemann about the club. I had been interested in The Bay Areas for some time. I got a real impression and decided to become a member.

The project "The Bay Areas Experience Partnership!" provided insights into the best practices from the successful projects of our partnership between the Bay Areas of Kiel, Schleswig-Holstein and San Francisco and brought our partnership to life with various formats as part of the citizens' festival on German Unity Day. Various formats were offered to visitors in a tent measuring around 100 square meters in Hiroshima Park. An exhibition of best-practice projects from our network provided them with specific information.

The board and office, together with numerous members of the association, acted as contact persons on both days of the festival and actively sought to talk to visitors about the opportunities to shape the partnership. Our guests were able to ask any questions they had and find out about the many opportunities to get involved in the partnership between the San Francisco and Schleswig-Holstein Bay Areas.

The best practice projects included the high-flyer competition, which was represented by the winning startup Naiture GmbH. They presented their weeding robot and reported on their experience in the startup competition, which has been held annually since 2018.
San Francisco Travel, the counterpart to Kiel Marketing, was on hand to answer questions about tourism. Dirk Lonnemann, an enthusiastic triathlon athlete and San Francisco fan, represented the association's sports, culture and tourism department and was able to explain many partnership projects to the guests.

A youth coach from Holstein Kiel was on hand to report on the partnership between the two soccer clubs San Francisco Glens and Holstein Kiel.
Kiel University (Radiology) presented a cooperative research project with the University of California San Francisco on the subject of modern imaging and made imaging comprehensible for everyone at several stations.

In the educational projects section, students and teachers from the Max Planck School in Kiel presented their partnership project with the German International School of Silicon Valley on the topic of "Human impact on the marine ecosystem" and were surprised by a prominent guest, the Minister of Education Karin Prien.

In addition to providing all the technology, Offener Kanal Schleswig-Holstein offered many interactive stations, including 3D printing of the Golden Gate Bridge and a virtual reality trip through San Francisco (in cooperation with Tasbasi-Reisen).

In interactive presentations and several live broadcasts to San Francisco, visitors were able to experience the direct line and even use it themselves.

At a wheel of fortune, key rings and caps were raffled off, which the club had flown in from San Francisco, and the cheerleaders "Lights" from Holstein Kiel offered us a great program and thus brought our visitors closer to an American sport.

It was a great two days! We would like to thank all our guests and co-organizers from the bottom of our hearts.
