On 21.09.2021, The Bay Areas e.V. together with the San Francisco-Kiel Sister City Committee organized the first "Sister City Dialogue" as a digital event on the topic "Tourism in Kiel & San Francisco - Impressions from the Sister Cities".
A video contest was held in advance, in which people from Kiel and San Francisco were invited to submit their personal favorite spot in a short video. A jury of experts then selected the best videos from both cities and edited them together to create a best-of image film of the two Sister Cities. Those selected each received a Kiel Week Goodie Bag.
In addition to the short, inspiring best-of image film, there was an inspiring discussion between the experts - Uwe Wanger from Kiel Marketing e.V. and Hubertus Funke from the San Francisco Travel Association - about the current developments, opportunities and trends in the two partner cities. The event was moderated by Kristin Asmussen from the WTSH.
The background to the digital event series is the intensification of the partnership between Kiel and San Francisco and the opportunity for intercultural exchange - even during the pandemic. A selected, socially relevant topic will be examined and discussed from both perspectives. Two to three dates per year are planned.
The event is organized by The Bay Areas e.V. together with its sister association in San Francisco, the San Francisco Kiel Sister City Committee. The project is supported by the State capital Kiel as part of the city partnership between Kiel and San Francisco.
